Black Creek Awarded Contract to Provide Security System at San Diego Co. George Bailey Detention Facility

Birmingham, AL – January 4, 2023 – Black Creek Integrated Systems Corp. has been awarded a subcontract valued in excess of $5 million dollars by Sundt Construction, Inc., to provide “parts and smarts” for the security control system at the San Diego County George Bailey Detention Facility. Sundt Construction is the General Contractor/Construction Manager for a larger renovation project at the facility. Black Creek was previously awarded an overarching contract to provide physical security control system design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance at multiple correctional facilities operated by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.

Black Creek previously designed, under a separate project for the architecture/engineering firm Randall Lamb Associates, Inc., the Super Display® Touchscreen System to be installed at the George F. Bailey Detention Facility (1,380 beds. The subcontract with Sundt Construction calls for Black Creek to provide replacement hardware and HMI software for the existing locking, intercom, CCTV, and card access systems.

Black Creek has been working with San Diego County since 2012, with touchscreen systems installed in the San Diego Central Jail, East Mesa Reentry Facility, East Mesa Juvenile Detention Facility Rock Mountain Detention Facility (including the former Facility 8 Detention Facility), and Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility. Black Creek also has a contract with San Diego County to provide a full-time technician to service and maintain control systems at all the facilities with Black Creek security systems installed.

The contract with Black Creek will allow the San Diego Sheriff’s Office to take advantage of the latest technological advancements in correctional security control as well as enhance safety and accountability in its daily interactions between staff, inmates, and the public. Additional benefits include reduced installation and maintenance costs and improved service response times. The upgraded systems will also provide documentary evidence for use in criminal prosecutions and in the defense of liability claims against the County.
